The beautiful island of Ithaca is the legendary
island of Odysseus, where his wife, Penelope, faithfully waited
for him to return.
The island lies between the islands of Lefkada and Kefalonia.
Ithaca is the least touristy of the Ionian Islands and the
most authentic and unspoiled.
Its low tourism is maybe explained by its lack of sandy beaches,
fortunately replaced by romantic and calm pebble coves with
crystalline waters. Precipitous landscape mixed to soft coasts
and verdant forests are composing Ithaca.
The attractive and verdant island of Ithaca
does not have long sandy beaches like neighbouring Lefkada
and Kefalonia; this is why it has not yet being overcrowded
by mass tourism.
But Ithaca is full of secluded bays and coves with multicoloured
pebbles and crystal-clear waters. The closest beach to the
island’s capital is Dexa and is where, according to mythology,
Odysseus arrived when he returned from his voyage.
Gidaki is a gorgeous beach reachable by fishing boat. More
wonderful beaches are available.
