Paros is part of the Cyclades.
It is famous for its pure white marble from which
many marvels were made such as the Venus de Milo.
The island is one of the more visited islands of
the Cyclades, attracting thousands of visitors with
its beautiful sandy beaches, its whitewashed capital
(called Parikia) and its wild night life.
The second major settlement of Paros is Naoussa,
a lovely fishing village close to some of the best
beaches of the island. The satellite islet of Antiparos
is a quitter and smaller alternative to Paros.
One of the reasons of the popularity of
Paros is its beautiful sandy beaches. The best ones are located
near the fishing village of Naoussa.
The most famous beach is Golden Beach; it is located on the
south-eastern coast and it is particularly popular with windsurfers;
equipments for various water sports are available there.
The nearby Punda Beach is the favourite among young people
because of its lively beach bar which is transforming the
place into a night club.
Fine and quitter beaches are scattered around the coast.
