Athens is the capital of Greece. It has a population of 6 millions inhabitants and is located in the region of Attica, in the eastern part of Greece.

It is a town with a particular character and charm. The most beautiful part of Athens is the historic centre which unites the neighbourhoods of Plaka, Monastiraki, Thision and Psiri.

The famous Acropolis is located in Athens, on a rock, overlooking the entire town. Opposite, stands proudly the rock of Lycabetus. Many interesting sites and museums are available in Athens.

The town of Athens is surrounded by various beaches. South-east of the capital is a coast full of sandy beaches and rocky coves.

The most popular ones are the beaches located in the area of Glyfada, Vouliagmeni and Voula. On the coast north of the town of Athens are the beaches of the areas of Rafina, Porto Rafti, Nea Makri, Skinias or Loutsa which are popular gateways for the people leaving in the northern suburbs of Athens.

They are located at about 30 to 45 minutes from the heart of Athens. Frequent buses are available.
